Vinyl siding installation & mansard roof removal
Rarely do homeowners request the removal of the French-style mansard roof, but this homeowner requested exactly that on the front and side of the house. Furthermore, she wanted to replace siding, gutters and doors.
To tackle this project, we began with removing the existing siding. We found rotten plywood and studs in various areas due to leaks caused by a lack of flashing. As we made these discoveries, we immediately informed Ms. Splinter about the problems.
The crew was given the go-ahead to replace bad studs and plywood sheets. We followed up those repairs by installing 1⁄4-in. fanfold, taping up all the seams. Fortunately, the mansard roof was removed without any surprises.
Finally, the crew installed Royal Estate 0.44 traditional siding in Heritage Blue and wrapped all windows and doors with aluminum. We used aluminum white soffit/fascia and aluminum seamless 5-in. gutters and 3-in. by 4-in. downspouts. The project also involved the installation of a new front door and sliding door.
All construction debris was removed from the job site in a timely manner, which pleased the homeowner, as did our focus on staying on schedule and on budget throughout the entire project.
