Cedar shake roof replacement to a new asphalt shingle roof
The homeowner requested VIS Exterior inspect the roof of his home, which was covered in cedar shake. VIS Exterior met with Mr. Atassi and performed the inspection, which was followed by offering him an estimate, which was between $20,000 and $30,000.
He requested that we remove the existing cedar shake roof, which was quite old and in need of replacement, and replace it with asphalt shingles.
The first job was to remove the cedar shake roof and inspect the plywood underneath it to ensure it was not damaged or in need of replacement. We removed two old power vents and patched the holes where they once were. We also installed ice and water shields six feet up from the gutters. The customer chose Charcoal colored GAF Timberline HD shingles, which we installed. Finally, we cut and installed a ridge vent.
With the roof project completed, we moved on to the gutters, with the crew installing seamless, 0.32 gutters and 3-in. by 4-in. white downspouts.
He became another satisfied VIS customer, pleased that we tackled the project in speedy fashion and that we stayed within the budget parameters.
