GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles roof installation
Shingles are made with a protective outer coating of granules that help absorb the impact of debris. But over time, the granules wear off, often collecting in the gutters and in downspouts. While a new roof will be fully capable of handling the average hailstorm, older roofs that have lost their protective granules are far more susceptible to damage. When this Willow Springs home was hit with a windstorm last year, the homeowner, knowing the roof was 20 years old, called in VIS Exterior to inspect for damages.
The only way to truly know the extent of damage to a roof is to do a thorough inspection. We noticed on this roof, aside from wind-damaged shingles, that there was a bow in the roof, indicating a deeper problem, which we were able to fix at no extra charge to the client. But given the age of the roofing system and the current damages we made the decision to completely replace the roof with GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles in a charcoal color. Installing durable products like those offered by GAF ensures many years of protection.
