Over time, the elements take a toll on roofing systems and they begin to allow moisture into areas where it can do a lot of damage. Such was the case with this Wheaton home, which was adorned with old wood shake shingles and siding that were due for removal.
VIS Exterior was called in to this project just when the pandemic had caused a shutdown of all non-essential work. But since roofing professionals provide an essential service, which is protecting homeowners and their homes from the elements, we were able to carry on with our projects.
The expense of wood shake shingles often prohibits homeowners from choosing that material, but there are plenty of other options, including asphalt architectural shingles, which require no maintenance and ultimately became the choice of the homeowner. James Hardy siding, a quality product that is popular with many homeowners today, was also chosen for its durability and aesthetic qualities.
The VIS Exterior crew also replaced four skylights, plugged all mushroom vents and installed a ridge vent, and installed new aluminum soffit and fascia. Finally, we installed new gutters and downspouts.
