Royal Estate siding installation and shingle roof replacement
Some homes that require a roof replacement only need a fresh covering of shingles. Other homes have areas where the plywood underlayment has moisture damage and needs to be replaced. In this 1,800-square-foot project, the entire plywood substructure required removal and replacement.
At VIS Exterior, our roofs last many, many years because we are meticulous in our installation process. When we removed the old shingles on this home, we found that all the sheeting was in a weak condition, which means if we had installed new shingles on top of it, the roof would quickly sag and water would pool, causing leaks throughout.
We replaced the 3/8ths-in. plywood sheeting with 5/8ths-in. sheeting and installed GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles. The siding was also due for replacement, so we chose Royal Estate vinyl siding and finished out the project by installing 5-in. gutters and 3×4-in. downspouts.
